Welcome to my webpage and to a fantastic new school year. I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful school. I have been at Roby for over 25 years teaching special education students. I love to work with students to help them to achieve their goals in reading, writing, and math. My love is to teach someone to read or write.
I live in Mount Washington and have three children. Ethan, my oldest who is sixteen, attends Bullitt East High School as an eleventh grader and loves it. Ethan is always complaining about the load of work he has but loves his teachers. He says that his favorite subject is journalism. I have two daughters. The oldest, Madelyn, will be ten in November, and Ashlyn who just turned nine in July. Both love to plague their brother. They both attend Roby and are in 4th grade. They are in separate classrooms this year. Madelyn is in Mrs. Bodner, and Ashlyn is in Mrs. Forgey. Janet, my wife of 20 years works for the Kroger Company as a front-end operations manager. She is in charge of 113 front ends of Kroger stores. My wife, Janet, Ethan, Madelyn, and Ashlyn are my support team. We all love to play together and share time as a family. We also have four dogs, which are very crazy. Yes, we have a lot of fun at our house. There is never a dull moment.
While I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family playing, traveling, shopping, and of course eating, especially out at restaurants. We are always on the go. Time seems to go by so quickly.
I have this philosophy of education that I try to share with my students daily that you have the ability to change any circumstance and control your future. You can beat the odds against you. You just have to be willing to try, be self-disciplined, and dedicated to your goals. I truly believe children can learn and attain certain levels of functioning in the real-world of daily life. This is my purpose as a teacher to inspire and lead children to be productive and caring adults who never stop being life-long learners. All students must do is come through the door and be willing to learn. Roby Elementary offers this type learning and achievement. That is why I am here to stay. Let's have a great year.
